You Deserve A Clean Slate - And So Does Your AC

There’s no doubt about it - it’s hot on the Gulf Coast.  With the Southern sun beating down, working can feel like a punishment more than a job.  If you have a new home under construction, your contractors are probably turning that brand new AC system on for that sweet breeze - and who can blame them?  Comfortable conditions can help contractors to work expediently and efficiently.  The downside is that a construction site has all sorts of dust and debris that can stress and age your new AC quickly.

Before the drywall on your new home goes up, the AC system is probably already installed.  The contractor has to make sure the AC works properly and test that it’s been set up correctly .  Once the AC is in use, it sucks in particles floating in the air, including any that have been shed from construction materials.  These particles line the surfaces throughout your AC system, and the construction dust then holds moisture… creating a feeding ground for mold.  If left unaddressed, your brand new AC system quickly becomes a petri dish for toxic spores.

Cleaning House

It’s important that any debris is cleaned out of the system once your home is completed -  before you move in.  Ask your contractor if you can negotiate the addition of a scheduled duct cleaning as part of your home-building process, or negotiate the cost when closing on a new build.  If the system is vacuumed, wiped, and sprayed with nontoxic fungicide, it is ready to provide cool, clean air for you and your family.  You paid for a brand new AC, and that’s exactly what should be waiting for you when you move into your sparkling, new home.

Keep toxic spores out of your ductwork and your air with a few simple steps.
